A well-known logistics, warehousing, supply chain company currently has an exciting opportunity for a Supply Chain Specialist this role can be based in either Durban or Johannesburg.
The incumbent will deliver cost-effective, manageable supply chain solutions to existing and prospective customers, whilst ensuring alignment with their business and supply chain strategies.
They will consistently seek opportunities that create value for customers by facilitating improved efficiencies in their supply chains. In addition, they will be responsible for the retention of Key Account customers and will prospect for additional opportunities to expand the customer base.
Essential Requirements:
• Degree/BTech in Industrial Engineering (Supply Chain Analysis) or Supply Chain degree or relevant Commercial degree
• A minimum of 5 years’ working experience in a similar role
• Experience in warehousing, ocean freight, rail and air modes of transport
• Strong supply chain experience
• Proficient in MS Office software
• Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
• Strong leadership, negotiation and organisational skills
End-to-end supply chain knowledge, experience in designing integrated solutions
Strong commercial and financial acumen
Good understanding of industry supply chains (local and international)
Excellent collaboration abilities (internal and external relationships)
• Solution orientated, provide solutions to ensure alignment with customers’ business and supply chain strategies
Main Job Tasks:
• Management and growth of the supply chain solution’s team
• Development of cross border, ocean, air, transport and project logistics business
• Cultivate new service lines and revenue streams, building and maintaining strong and sustainable customer relationships to ensure opportunity exposure and increased sales for the business
• Proactively provide smart supply chain solutions to customers, cost-saving research and industry-specific future changes
• Overseeing and improving current supply chain solutions to enhance value proposition to customers
Monitor supply chain solutions to ensure maximum shipping alternatives for customers using, rail, road, sea and air
• Ensuring processes and procedures comply with legislation, customer requirements, as well as operational demands
• Motivating and coaching staff, encouraging team-building and increasing staff morale
• Training and development of supply chain solutions team
• Effectively controlling and reporting on expenditure
• Developing and providing annual budget recommendations for the Global Logistics Business unit
