Financial Manager

Our client a well est. retail organisation is looking for a Finance Manager to assist with the compliance and financial reporting for the company.
Purpose of the Job:
Strive for excellence in the Financial Accountant role as follows:
•  To ensure that all monthly & annual financial reports are   published within the agreed timelines and that the figures are accurate
•  To improve & streamline the financial reporting efficiencies within the group
  •  To ensure that all compliance requirements are met – SARS, CIPC, Banks etc.
  •  To provide information support to the Group Financial Exec and the Exec team
  •  To create synergies with the Management Accountant
  •  To ensure smooth operation of the finance & admin team at Head Office
Key Performance Area Summary:
1)  Contribute to the achievement of the company’s business objectives by providing key financial information
2)  Assist with preparation of the group’s annual budgets
3)  Preparation of the company’s monthly financial accounts and ensuring that these are presented accurately and on time.
4)  Assist in developing and maintaining all necessary systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company.
5)  All compliance requirements to be met on time to avoid penalties, interest etc.
6)  Assist & support finance & admin staff so that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
Financial Reporting:  
Main Tasks / Responsibilities
  •  Monthly P&Ls: variance & expense analysis
  •  Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  •  Monthly fixed asset registers update
  •  Company overrider rebate; tracking monthly
  •  Audit preparation & liaison including overseeing the drafting of the AFS
  •  Monthly payroll – oversight, checking
  •  Business licenses – applications & renewals
  •  EMP201 returns (monthly) including ETI
  •  EMP501 return oversight (bi-annually) + subsequent verifications
  •  IT14 tax returns – checking auditor submissions (annually)
  •  Liquor licenses – applications & renewals
  •  Motor vehicle license renewals
  •  Company stats
  •  Stats SA – annually
  •  Tax clearance certificates & tax directives
Other :  
  •  BBBEE certification – supply all information requested by the ratings agency
  •  Creditors – oversight on outstanding drop-shipment & dc warehouse claims
  •  Debtors – oversight, make sure debts collected, resolve issues (few debtors)
  •  Tax clearance certificates & tax directives
  •  Checking payments, ready to be authorised (standby only)
  •  Ad hoc reporting etc
Education & Technical Qualifications  
  •  B Comm Honours (Accounting) with completed Articles at a recognised firm
Previous Work Experience  
  •  At least 5 years post articles commercial experience, preferably in retail or FMCG
  •  Previous experience with handling company compliance requirements especially SARS returns
