Financial Accountant

Durban – KwaZulu Natal

Our client,  a leading distributor and manufacture of household goods  throughout South Africa are currently looking for a  financial accountant that will be responsible for the reporting of the organization’s financial status. Which will require collecting and maintaining data, detecting trends, and forecasting future needs. In addition, the financial accountant will prepare detailed statements and communicate financial information to company stakeholders.
Qualifications required
    • B.COM Accounting degree
    • SAICA Accreditation
Experience required
    • Minimum of 3 years in a general ledger or related accounting function
    • Proven experience in a Syspro environment required
Maintenance of the General Ledger
    • Review General Ledger reconciliations monthly, including backup schedules in support of the balance sheet accounts.
    • Follow up of queries / reconciling items ensuring that no significant items remain on the reconciliations when closing the General Ledger.
    • Complete bi-annual and annual schedules as required in support of specific General Ledger accounts.
 Maintenance of Fixed Assets Register for the division
    • Update and maintain the Fixed Assets Register per plant.
    • Complete Capex forms for capital expenditure requests and review the financial justifications
Cashflow forecasting
    • Prepare weekly cashflow forecasts and submit to Head Office.
    • Perform reconciliation between forecast and actual cash movement.
 Statutory returns
    • Review monthly Divisional VAT return.
    • Review monthly Divisional EMP201 return.
    • Perform IT14SD reconciliation
    • Liase with SARS on all tax related queries
  • Assist with internal & external audit information requests
Foreign treasury
  • Review all Buyer documentation for FEC requests
  • Update FEC schedules & send to Head office once approved
  • Review all Buyers documentation for payment requests
  • Update schedules & shared drive once processed
  • Liase with banking personnel on bank related matters
  • Review and release payments on the banking system
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Computer literacy (proficiency in MS Excel and Syspro)
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficient knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
