Our client, a well-known South African listed company is looking for a driven, people-orientated, systems and process focused individual to manage their Durban Depot. This role includes management of operations, people, resourcing, efficiencies and customer / sales growth.
Qualifications, Competencies & Experience:
- Operations or Logistics Management qualification
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience at management level
- Ability to run a production line with set quality outcomes and performance targets
- Experience in a manufacturing / production environment an advantage
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Ensure Depot is running efficiently within cost and quality parameters ensuring container production line utilisation is planned at a maximum
- Management of Operations, Workshop, Reefer and Yard Supervisors and their teams
- Maintaining and managing customer relationships and new business growth
- Manage and contain manpower costs
- Manage and support SHEQ initiatives and objectives
- Manage all activities within the operations process, including maintenance and the workforce
- Inventory control, managing stock levels and procurement of materials
- Responsible for WIP turnaround and limits
- Create and implement organisational/operational changes on an operative level
- Maintaining skills matrix for operational employees indicating skill requirements and certification
- Investigation into root cause
- Work closely with Finance to ensure effective Debtors, Creditors and Budget management
Required skills:
- Excellent communication, numeracy and computer literacy skills
- Good people management skills and management of staff
- Identifying problems and implement preventative strategies to minimise risk
- Strong problem-solving skills, analytic ability and be very detail-oriented
- Being results and deadline-driven
- Good understanding of financial accounts
