Business Applications Manager

Our client , a well known South African listed company, is looking for a Business Applications Manager responsible for understanding the strategic objectives and vision of the business and developing and executing a road map to support and enable this.
The incumbent will be responsible for integration, automation and rationalisation of business applications and working closely with Group IT to ensure alignment and compliance with Group’s strategy, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will oversee the business process design and blue printing, project management to ensure projects are properly scoped and executed on time and within budget.
 
Qualification:
  • Degree in Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related IT equivalent
  • BSc degree in Industrial Engineering (preferable)
Experience:
  • Experience working as a business application specialist with at least a minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a management role.
  • Proven experience with project management with proven methodologies.
  • Proven experience in analyzing business systems requirements and articulating this requirement to a development house both verbally and via professional detailed requirements specifications.
  • Excellent administrative, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Experience in a Logistics and/or Shipping environment will be an advantage
  • Broad working knowledge of computer networking, installation, and administration.
  • Willingness to travel.
 
Key Performance Area’s:
Strategic Alignment
  • Understand the companies vision and strategic direction and developing a road map for the application landscape to support this.
  • Implementation and execution of the road map.
Business Process and Blueprinting
  • Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, decompose high-level information into detail and produce Functional Requirements Specifications and Blueprint documents.
Project Execution
  • Ensure all allocated projects are completed within the allocated timescales, to a high level of quality and within budget.

  • Change Management
  • Management of the project
Support and Training
  • Ensure competent staff are in place to provide first line up support and training to users
Vendor Management
  • Facilitate contracts and contract renewals
  • Approve vendor invoices in line with the LOA
Leadership and People Management
  • Resource the department with adequately qualified and skilled personnel
  • Training, development, and motivation of staff
Continuous improvement and reporting
  • Perform gap analysis between operational processes and application functionality to identify automation and optimisation opportunities.
  • Be able to map Business Process flows to demonstrate detail business operations.
  • Be able to translate business challenges into problem statements and identify solutions to support the problem statement.
  • Develop dash boards to assist the business with visibility of day-to-day activities to support quick decision making
